Delaware Medicare Plans: Delaware Medicare Advantage Plans

As an alternative to using the Original Medicare, you may use the option to enroll in one of Delaware Medicare Advantage Plans. Private insurance companies offer these plans, and by law they must cover all services covered by the Original Medicare. Plans typically have a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan and extra services such as dental, hearing and vision services, wellness programs and gym membership.

There are several types of Medicare Advantage plans available, including HMO, PPO, PFFS, MSA and SNP. All these plan types are able to be obtained in Delaware. Below is the list of Delaware Medicare Advantage providers represented by Liberty Medicare:

Delaware Medicare Plans: Delaware Medicare Prescription Drug Plans

If you are covered by the Original Medicare, you would be wise to enroll in one of the stand-alone Delaware Medicare Prescription Drug Plans (PDPs). The enrollment is optional, but it is beneficial to enroll as soon as you got Medicare. By signing up later, you’ll be charged a penalty for delayed enrollment. PDP are run by private companies covering both generic and brand-name drugs. Most of companies are well-known and conducting business across most of the United States.

Below is the list of Medicare Prescription Drug providers in Delaware represented by Liberty Medicare:

State Pharmaceutical Assistance Programs (SPAPs)

Delaware has Delaware Prescription Assistant Program (DPAP), which assists with prescription drugs payments based on financial need, age, or medical condition.

Delaware Medicare Plans: Delaware Medicare Supplement Plans

Medicare Supplement Plans (Medigap Plans) provide protection against Original Medicare out-of-pocket cost, such as deductibles, copayments / coinsurances and excess charges. Without Medigap plans your Medicare health costs could be excessively high. Plans are sold by private insurance companies licensed in Delaware.

Delaware Individual Comprehensive Major Medical Plans (Obamacare Plans)

Obamacare Plans refer to health plans that are compliant with Patient Protection and the Affordable Care Act (PPACA). These plans are known as Qualified Health Plans (QHPs). They must include Essential Health Benefits and provide all Obamacare Benefits and Protections. The plans may be sold through Health Insurance Marketplaces, also known as Exchanges, as well as directly through insurance vendors.

Delaware Short Term Medical Insurance

Delaware Short Term Medical (STM) Insurance provides health insurance for individuals and families in times of transition. STM insurance covers the need for temporary medical coverage. It is an alternative to Obamacare plans whenever those plans are either unavailable (i.e. fall outside of Annual Enrollment Period) or unaffordable.
